Case study · India's leading retail chain
Cutting waste and damage across 18,000+ retail stores
Scenario-based eLearning in four languages for a retail chain with 18,000+ stores, which led to a 20% productivity increase and a 25% drop in near-expiry waste.
The client
India’s leading retail chain, with more than 18,000 stores across supermarkets, hypermarkets and convenience formats, and a growing e-commerce business.
The challenge
Inefficiencies in resource management, stock planning and product scheduling were hurting operational efficiency and profitability. Much of the workforce had limited formal education, so traditional, text-heavy training wasn’t working.
The solution
We designed a tailored eLearning programme focused on three problems: inventory loss, product-expiry management and employee efficiency.
- Scenario-based learning built around real store situations, so staff practised decisions instead of reading rules.
- Simplified language that kept technical accuracy while matching the learners’ reading level.
- Four languages, with source content standardised up front to make localisation fast and consistent.
- Professional translators and layered quality checks on every version.
The results
| Measure | Result |
|---|---|
| Productivity | +20% |
| Product damage | −15% |
| Waste from near-expiry items | −25% |
Why it worked
The training met learners where they were: in their language, in their stores, in situations they faced every day. Building for localisation from the start kept four language versions accurate and on schedule.
